Not So Fast, Canada

February 27, 2010

Oh, Canada…

Stolen from native land

Troops, tanks, and bombs

Invade Afghanistan

Seas of red and white, flags-o-wavin, chanting in the street. Canada really wants to celebrate itself. But are we at a point where we deserve a celebration?

Many Olympic goers have felt as though the protesters at the games are out to spoil their fun. Not so. To those protesting oppressive Canadian policies, Canada does not evoke pride but pain. There is nothing wrong with celebrating, but let’s take care of each other first. That’s something to celebrate.

I saw a homeless man picking bottles out of trash bins from the window of  a downtown apartment yesterday. He had a large Canadian flag attached to the back of his bike. I wondered what reason he had to celebrate his country, which had let him slide through the cracks. Then I realized that there was a rickshaw attached to the back of his bike. He was selling patriotism to make a buck, to buy him a meal.

We think we are living in the future with our fancy technology, but as long as we’re bombing each other for peace, we’re living in the past.

Ice Queen, Johnny Weir, Gets Owned

Sure, it's a dirty industry. I just don't really care.

Olympic figure skater, Johnny  Weir, might not care about the animals who suffer for his vanity, but many others do. After spouting off some nasty comments about animals and animal activists, Weir has realized the emotional impact of his decision to put fur on his skating costumes and has agreed to replace it with faux. Although of course he goes down bitchily.

“I would like to announce that due to pressures and threats from a certain animal rights group, I will be changing the genuine fox fur on my free program costume that I will use in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, B.C., to white faux fur. I made this decision after several threats were sent to me about disrupting my performance in the Olympic Games and my costume designer, Stephanie Handler, was repeatedly sent messages of hate and disgust. I do not want something as silly as my costume disrupting my second Olympic experience and my chance at a medal, a dream I have had since I was a kid. I hope these activists can understand that my decision to change my costume is in no way a victory for them, but a draw. I am not changing in order to appease them, but to protect my integrity and the integrity of the Olympic Games as well as my fellow competitors.

Just weeks away from hitting my starting position on the ice in Vancouver, I have technique and training to worry about and that trumps any costume and any threat I may receive.”

Johnny Weir is entitled to have hopes & dreams, but the animals who died for his costumes who spent their lives in tiny boxes only to be anally and vaginally electrocuted and then skinned alive are SOL.

I see Johnny changing his tune as a victory for animal rights. The issue hit the press, Johnny tried to justify the  animal cruelty he was promoting, and the devastated response was so strong from the rest of the world that he was stopped in his figure skates.

Weir goes on in this statement to talk about protecting his integrity. Huh? Doesn’t integrity have something to do with adhering to a moral code? That usually includes doing no harm, and Weir makes it clear that if it was up to him – he would harm, harm away.

Who knows what kind of threats were sent Weir’s way; not all activists function the same. Has an activist threatened to do to Johnny what he indirectly inflicts on the animals he wears? That would be… poetic justice wrong. Maybe one day people will choose non-violence for themselves without pressure from others.

Here is some other stupid shit Johnny Weir has said:

I totally get the dirtiness of the fur industry and how terrible it is to animals. But it’s not something that’s the No. 1 priority in my life. There are humans dying everyday. There are thousands if not millions of homeless people in New York City. Look at what just happened in Haiti. I tend to focus my energy, if there is a cause, on humans. While that may be callous and bad of me, it’s my choice.

Every skater is wearing skates made out of cow. Maybe I’m wearing a cute little fox while everyone else is wearing cow, but we’re all still wearing animals.”

Okay babe, firstly, compassion to animals includes humans. Just because people advocate the humane treatment of animals, doesn’t mean they are not contributing to human rights issues. Usually those who are concerned about animal welfare choose a non-violent lifestyle in as many ways as possible.

And for the record, the fur and cattle industry are not comparable. Leather is a bi-product of the meat industry – the fur industry exists solely for people like you. People are against wearing fur because it is superfluous. Taking down leather is a feat for another day, although there are many other materials that function just as well.

“There was a lot of attention put on a tiny piece of fur. While I do understand anti-fur activists views about fur and the fur industry, they aren’t part of my life. One thing that is horrible is when somebody pushes a belief on you like a religion. I was definitely threatened and felt very threatened. People are nuts. I’m an easy person to pick on because I’m very open I like fur and I like things that come from dead animals. It’s easy put your cause against an athlete going to the Olympic Games, it’s good free publicity for these activists.”

Let’s recap here: the attention was not on the tiny piece of fur, it was on Weir’s choice to promote fur products and the fur industry. Weir discusses people pushing beliefs on him like a religion. Got news for you hon, the fur industry exists whether you believe in it or not. The pressure you have received for your fashion choice is nothing compared to the violence suffered by the animals you’ve been wearing. Weir has tried to play the role of victim claiming that he’s being picked on because he’s a big mouth “very open”. Just not to compassion, evidently. Well the activists who have been taking advantage of your purity have not been in it for their own glory, they’re just tired of fighting the battle against the intolerable cruelty of the fur industry.

But essentially we’ll give Johnny a pat on the fur-free back for choosing faux.

His integrity is blowing our minds.

Police Brutality

The Face of the 2010 Games

I have had several alpha male types tell me in regards to the Heart Attack protests last weekend: they wanted to punch the protesters in the face. But does breaking a window give anyone the grounds to break your face?

No. In the court of law, you are required to be made whole regarding damaged or stolen property. If you hurt someone for ruining your stuff, there will be serious charges laid against you

Then WHY is this legal for the police?

Below is a compilation of some exceedingly brutal arrests made during the march which are an ominous sign of what is to come for our society since the police did not inflict proper discrepancy on who they were arresting. The Vancouver Police department took people down as they tried to disperse and they detained peaceful protesters in the street for a strangely long period of time. To violently attack anyone wearing black is not a solution for arresting the few in black who smashed windows – the police force didn’t know who they’re taking down, but someone had to pay. With them, the police brought machine guns, pellet guns, batons and shields (which they used), and tear gas, which was not used as the area was crowded with Olympic goers, or as one policeman called them “normal people”.

It is not illegal to cover your face with a mask on the street. If this were the case, the SWAT team would be breaking the law by covering their face in anticipation of the tear gas they may potentially deploy.

The videos all show protesters hitting the pavement and being hit and shoved with shields and batons. They do not show the protesters inciting violence towards law enforcement.

When a movie warns that it will contain violence, does this typically mean that you will see vandalism? Buildings being demolished?

No, it means that there will be bloodshed and people will get hurt.

A main intention of the protesters on the street on Saturday 13, 2010 was to show the world what becomes of those who express intense dissent towards government. You can disagree with the government, but make too strong a statement and you will be physically attacked.

Do You Believe?

February 18, 2010

The slogan for the Olympics this year is strangely similar to the old McDonald’s jingle: “Do you believe in magic?” (then something about always having a friend wearing big red shoes), the main quality I seek in friends. Anyway, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics somehow requires our belief for it to take place. But although the city is abuzz as expected with red-clad bandwagon riders who jump at the chance to celebrate drink, the city has also been in a state of perpetual protest, thousands gathering to express dissent about the two week party for the rich and the  corrupt society that Canada has sunken into.

Why Resist 2010?

  • Ecological Destruction

Despite claims to be the “greenest Olympics” ever, and PR statements about ‘sustainability’, the 2010 Olympics will be among the most environmentally destructive in history, with tens of thousands of trees cut down & mountainsides blasted for Olympic venues in the Callaghan Valley (near Whistler) & the Sea-to-Sky Highway expansion. In the summer of 2007, a record number of black bears were hit on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, with at least 11 dying (attributed to loss of habitat). Massive amounts of concrete used in construction have also caused millions of Salmon to die in the Fraser River, where tons of gravel are being mined to make concrete.

  • Homelessness

Since winning the 2010 Winter Games in 2003, Vancouver has lost over 850 units of low-income housing; during the same period, homelessness has increased from 1,000 to over 2,500. It is estimated by 2010, the number of homeless may be as high as 6,000. Since the 1980s, Olympic Games have caused the displacement of over 2 million people (Fair Play for Housing Rights report, 2007). In Seoul 1988, some 750,000 poor were displaced, in Atlanta 1996, over 30,000, and for Beijing in 2008, an estimated 1.5 million have been displaced. Yet still today Olympic officials talk about ‘sustainability’ and ‘Olympic legacies’! To ‘clean out’ the poor and undesirables, Olympic host cities routinely begin a campaign to criminalize the poor. In Vancouver, the city has launched Project Civil City and new by-laws to criminalize begging for money, sleeping outdoors, etc. It has also included hundreds of thousands of dollars for increased private security (i.e., the Downtown Ambassadors). New garbage canisters on streets make it more difficult for the poor to gather recyclables, and new benches make it impossible to lay down.

  • 2010 Police State

Some 12,500 police, military and security personnel are to be deployed for 2010, including Emergency Response Teams, riot cops, helicopters, armoured vehicles, etc. The RCMP plan on erecting 40 km of crowd-control fencing along with CCTV video surveillance cameras. Special security zones will be established to control entry near Olympic venues. For 3 weeks, Vancouver will be an occupied Police State! And once the Olympics are over, there is no guarantee many of these security measures will not remain (i.e., CCTV).
Repression also involves attacks on anti-Olympic groups & individuals, including arrests of protesters, raids of offices, surveillance, media smear campaigns, cuts to funding programs, etc., all in an effort to undermine anti-2010 resistance. This repression has already been used against anti-poverty & housing groups, environmentalists and Natives, in Vancouver.

  • Public Debt

VANOC and government officials claim the 2010 Games will cost some $2 billion. However, this amount doesn’t include the Sea-to-Sky Highway expansion, the Canada Line Skytrain to the airport, the Vancouver Convention Center, or the lower mainland Gateway Project. Including these costs, since they were necessary to win the bid and had to be completed by 2010, makes the true cost of the Games some $6 billion, which must be paid for through public debt, money that could have been spent on social services, housing, drug treatment, healthcare, etc.

  • Corporate Invasion

Governments and businesses use the Olympics as a means to attract corporate investment. In BC, the Liberal government has ‘streamlined’ application processes, cut taxes, and offered other incentives to increase certain industries such as mining, oil & gas drilling, and ski resorts. This includes large increases in transport systems, including new ports, bridges, expanded highways & rail-lines. This is all part of their Investment to 2010 Strategy. The results have been dramatic, record-breaking increases in these industries, resulting in greater environmental destruction and more corporate power & influence over our daily lives. Many of the main corporate sponsors of the Olympics are themselves responsible for massive ecological destruction and human rights violations, including McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Petro-Canada, TransCanada, Dow, Teck Cominco, etc., while others are major arms manufacturers (General Electric & General Motors).

On February 15th, a tent village was erected on an empty lot on East Hastings owned by an Olympic sponsor. Watch below what Canada was become:

That evening, several hundred gathered for a moving spectacle against globalization, poverty, and war on the downtown streets, ending at the tent village to show support.

Sticker left suprisingly not by myself

And NOW for your daily dose of propaganda:

(Meanwhile back at the ranch in Calgary, anarchists smashed up a McDonald’s in solidarity.)

Here are my points of contention with CTV’s spin on the protest, and yes – it was a protest:

  • You call the protesters violent, yet make no mention of anyone they hurt, although I know from participants that protesters were beaten in the street with batons.
  • Why were police so terrified of protesters blocking the Lion’s Gate Bridge when they close it bi-weekly at the drop of a hat based on “police business”? It was partially blocked this morning for an hour.
  • I’ve got news for you, the black bloc is not a small group, it is not even a group – it could be anyone behind those masks at any time. The same way that you hide behind your riot gear.
  • Police claim the anarchists are from Central Canada and the U.S.. There are anarchists in Vancouver, in every city. Anyone who has felt poverty, violence, and oppression is an excellent candidate for anarchy.
  • We must remember that the largest theft happens on a scale too massive to see, made legal by jargon and loopholes.

But the anarchist movement had this to say of Saturday’s protests:

The San Francisco-area blog, entitled “Beneath the snow: covering the resistance to the 2010 Olympics,” said the group of masked protesters, members of the “black bloc contingent,” have been a strong force of resistance since the Games opened in Vancouver Friday.

“What’s especially striking here… is how disciplined and strategically — even politically — effective they’ve been, and how much respect they’ve earned through their organizing efforts leading up to this point as well as their actions on the streets,” the author, who remained anonymous, wrote. The blog is produced by three writers involved in the social justice movement.

Two Hearts that Beat As One

Human + Animal = Beastiality True Love

Silly humans, fur is for animals.

Have you ever wanted to feel famous for a day? Well that was the experience Sunday as 12 activists took over the stairs at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Valentine’s Day. With thousands of camera happy people lurking around the fountain and clock, we had constant flashbulbs going off. Might have had something to do with the naked people…

This was my beginner attempt at banner making, which is an excellent thigh workout, btw, with all the hovering. The letters are made of everything from pastels, to oil paint, to tape, to gift bags, and there are also sparkles, diamond studs and tissue paper. Keep it simple.

We also had media attention, including a Russian newspaper and who I believe was Kermit the Frog.

Check out 24′s coverage here.

Behind the Scenes

Everyone loved the naked guys. From our Zac Efron look-alike who couldn’t put his clothes back on because there was too long a line-up of tweens wanting to take pics with him, to our super, super naked guy who was not afraid to go all the way for compassion and was so well-received, even families wanted to take pictures with him.

So there you go – feel famous, toned thighs – activism has its perks.

Clogging the Arteries of Vancouver

Olympic Welcoming Committee, Feb.12 2010

After thousands hit the streets yesterday to come together in protest of the 2010 Olympics, chaos broke out today in the downtown core of Vancouver, windows of various corporations smashed and doused in red paint, including The Royal Bank, The Bay, and Bell. The protesters, about 200, were in black bloc formation.

The Black Bloc

While some misguided protesters decided to vandalize personal property (?) others sent a strong anti-capitalist message to corporate sponsors. CBC is describing the group as “violent”, but it was the cops who committed violence – full on beatings with batons.

Property destruction is not the same as violence. Get your story straight CBC. Spin, spin, spin.

What is violence? Smashing a window, or someone's face?

Personally, I think kicking over mopeds on the DTES is stupid, but it was a sight for sore eyes to see The Bay’s windows demolished. The Bay makes millions of dollars off the needlessly cruel fur industry and are very much deserving of anger coming their way. Vans parked on the sidewalk tried to cover the broken windows. A woman stood in front of a window after holding a cardboard sign that said something like “Douchebags breaking windows is not protesting.” Of course, I yelled something about how The Bay skins animals alive only to have the media cameras on her aim at me, asking: “What is freedom?” I replied:

“The end of all oppressive systems”

An explanation of the tactis used for Heart Attack 2010:

“Diversity of tactics means support for each others’ chosen method of resistance while not threatening the lives of those around us. It is a way by which we hope to create space for the realization of tension, uncertainty, action, humour and beauty as we strive for new ways to engage with each other and against a common enemy. While we may practice one tactic or action, we do not chose yours. As participants we agree to leave the policing of tactics to our oppressors, not our comrades; we will not attack each other for using methods that are not our own. Through a diversity of tactics we are stronger and more cohesive towards our goal of giving Capitalism a massive coronary.”

…and the Velcro of Creative Thought

Call it what you want – repaving neuropathways if you will.

Some ideas from The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent:

The Attractive Power of Creative Thought

You are a Vibrational Being living in a Vibrational Universe. As you give your attention to something: an idea, a memory, a situation you are observing, a dream or fantasy that you are visualizing… you are actually activating vibration. And as your focus causes that activation, that vibrational content now becomes your point of attraction. Whenever you think about anything its vibrational content becomes an active part of your vibrational essence – and the subject of your attention begins to move towards you. Consciously realize that thinking about something is inviting the essence of that something into your experience.

Knowledge of the vibrational nature of your Universe is both comforting and exhilarating: comforting in the sense that you know that you have nothing to fear because nothing can come to you without your invitation of it, and exhilarating in the sense that you know you can draw anything that you desire close to you. When you realize that you are the vibrational attractor of all things that come to you, your world opens. There is no need to limit your experience in a guarded or protective stance, for no unwanted thing can force itself into your experience. You are the creator of your own experience, and no one else has power within your experience.

The Universal Law of Attraction

In the same way that the law of gravity consistently responds to the physical matter of the planet, the Law of Attraction consistently responds to all vibrations. Every projection of thought, whether you are focused on the past, present, or future, is vibration and has attraction power. This powerful, consistent Law of Attraction (that which is like unto itself is drawn) offers consistent results in response to the vibrations that you offer. There are no arbitrary inconsistent responses that would make the Law of Attraction impossible to understand. It is consistent; it is fair; it is always responsive; it is powerful – it is a Deliberate Creator’s best friend. Your awareness of the powerful consistency of the Law of Attraction and your understanding of how it works coupled with the conscious utilization of your Emotional Guidance System* – put you in the powerful position of creating joy in your life.

Choosing your objects of attention deliberately, and refining the specifics of your focus by using your Emotional Guidance System renders you a powerful Deliberate Creator who is fulfilling your intention for this physical life experience.

Rockets of Desire

Although you may know others who seem to be having similar experiences, you are living a unique life experience. As you move about your world interacting with the components of your time-space reality, experiencing  the variety and contrast that surrounds you, you automatically and constantly clarify personal preferences. And as you stand in your unique Leading-Edge perspective, Rockets of Desire erupt within you and cause vibrational signals to emanate from you. And as those vibrations, through the Law of Attraction, summon vibrational matches unto themselves, everything that you are – and everything that your Inner Being or Source is – experiences the expansion of that summoning.

From a state of balanced energy (aligning your physical self with your non-physical self) clarity will emerge.

You get what you think about, but more specifically – you get what you feel about what you think about.

What has already materialized into your experience: you call it reality, fact, evidence, proof, history… And in doing this, overlook the temporary nature of it. These are not the NOW.

Focus on the sensation of creating your own reality rather than giving so much attention to the reality that you have created.

Contrast produces desire, and all desire is answered.

So if this is correct, then anyone who desires anything should be the swift receiver of that desire. However, when you launch a desire with equally strong feelings about whether or not that desire will manifest (whether you deserve it, whether it is realistic…) then the exact balance of energy you are projecting will boomerang towards you. If you project contrast, this is what you will receive.

He Wouldn’t Have Made Them Out of Meat

What vegetarian/vegan hasn’t heart this lame-ass retort?

And it’s not an argument, it’s a dig. Yet somehow, it can drive even the most pacifist vegan to want to grab the nearest blunt object. Non-veg people must understand that these type of comments are received like joking about murdering a particular race because they deserve it – it turns the stomach.  But to all the veg people out there, you can help understand people who make comments like this by knowing that they are repressed vegetarians to whom you represent guilt – you see death in their diet, they see it in yours (a death of the things they are used to). These ideas are from Living Among Meateaters by Carol J. Adams, which I will reference in more detail in a future post.

Most people forget they're quoting Homer on this one...

Here are 2 possible comebacks for this oft repeated un-pc line:

a) Appropriate

(for work or scholastic settings, in situations with relatives, people you need money from, or sensitive people)

…what are humans made of?

Ask the question genuinely, as though you’ve never thought of it before. The comeback allows time for a laugh, and then hopefully later some further ponderance – hmm… humans are made of meat, too… but we’re not made to be eaten, so…. And then they can silently mind-wrestle themselves about being at the top of the food chain and all that shiz.

b) Inappropriate

(for work situations with someone who you know can’t fire you or verbally abusive pedestrians who have just Supersoaked you with milkshake…)

…just like God invented killing because violence is an essential component of human nature.

Deadpan is essential for this one. The person doesn’t want a reply from you, this is their big guns – their last line. Keeping composure is important so it doesn’t sound like you’re delivering a death threat. You’re attempting to remind said human that in order to obtain this meat – a gory, bloody process is necessary. Is said smug metrosexual willing to roll up his pink sleeves and get up to the elbow in cow guts to get his Friday lunchtime steak? This comeback may lead to some further retorts like: “whatever, I like my meat”, or “well, what do you eat?”  (you find yourself racking your brain to come up with the day’s menu – don’t bother, just answer: everything except animal products, or some similar simple statement).  The comeback reaches maximum potential in slow-release form, philosophic annoyances rearing up during crucial meat lovin’ moments. Another spin on the argument could be how God gave animals feelings because he wanted them to suffer…

Cherry on the cake, my friend, Rebecca Dawn, just sent me this:

“The #1 drug on the street”

Luvs

Abraham Esther Hicks Denies

Animal Suffering

Many of you may be familiar with Esther and Jerry Hicks, the authors of the Law of Attraction books. I mentioned my take on these two characters from the start (flaky!), but have managed to extract valid information from their books anyway, which they claim to channel from a non-physical entity named “Abraham”. {The name business – Jehova, Abraham… names don’t matter, and it would make sense that two people with religious upbringings would choose a religious sounding name to speak their inspirations through.}

The reason that I read past the self-promoting forwards of Esther and Jerry (which go so far as to claim that they are the happiest people they know – how depressing!), is because I feel that the information about the Law of Attraction is out there for anyone to access and if these two individuals are able to break it down in an easy to digest manner, then take what you can from it, and other sources, of course.

In the latter portion of the Abraham-Hicks book: “The Power of Deliberate Intent”, which has some very lucid moments, Esther/Abe talks to an animal lover. Here is what she has to say:

“The only difference worth mentioning between human and beast is that the beast, without exception, is more turned in, tapped in, turned on. They are more in touch with who they really are.”

Esther/Abe speaks of how our animal companions are of the same Energy Stream as humans.

Now, on the prior page, she talks about how easily translation can morph, and specifically tells us not to trust her:

“… we do not think it is a good idea to count on Esther’s translation. We think you should get your own.”

The interesting part  follows:

The mystical “Abraham” who offers loving help to all those who ask, has this to say:

Guest: “I struggle with allowing family and friends who eat animals (due to the suffering of the animals) especially when co-habiting with someone who desires to have dead animals in my refrigerator and cook them in my house. Can you help me with this?”

Abraham: “Not really.”

(Abraham, who has an answer for absolutely everything, has their hands tied here. Could this be because Esther Hicks is not a vegetarian?)

Abraham: “Well, you have set yourself up for a lot of grief because you keep beating the drum. You used every word that you could to make that a bad thing. You cannot have it both ways. You cannot vehemently  disapprove of that and have dead carcasses in your refrigerator at the same time. Something must give – and we would work on getting in flow with the nature of things.”

(Esther firstly negates the guest’s statement, telling her that slaughtered animals are not something bad, but something she has made bad. And instead of suggesting that said guest possibly ask for change, Esther says: suck it up, biotch.)

“It is possible that some ruler could become so powerful and get such a big bomb that he could convince all other humans to eat animals, but you are not going to convince other animals to not eat animals.”

(So… Esther thinks that the only way people would stop eating meat is if a Hitler-type threatened to kill everyone?)

“The big one is always going to eat the little one. In other words, the big fish is always going to eat the little fish.

(Thanks for saying the same thing twice in a row. Is someone a little flustered? This is getting almost Sarah Palin.

This statement completely defies everything that Esther teaches, because she teaches that objective truth is simply a set of decisions that have already been made. She teaches to create one’s own reality – NOT base it on what has always been.)

“And when you understand that the animals coming forth come forth knowing that, then you do not make it such a big deal.”

(Esther – have you SEEN factory farming these days? It has nothing to do with the food chain or a natural rhythm, it denies animals their lives from birth. It is not natural or humane.)

“And we promise you that, as clear-minded as these beasts are, if it was not a game they wanted to play, they would not come forth again and again to play it with you.”

(Yes, these animals ask to be raped, kept pregnant their entire lives to have their babies ripped away from them when they would typically carry on life-long relationships. They want to be dipped in vats of boiling water alive, have their necks slit while hung upside down. Have their beaks and nads chopped off without painkillers. This is the game they want to play.)

“You do not have to eat meat, but do not push against something that is so prevalent in our society that you have to cringe about it.”

(Translation: there is nothing you can do about it so shut up, okay?

Normally, Esther would suggest reaching for a better -feeling thought:

eg. there are currently systems of unnecessary violence in our world, but we are evolving to a more compassionate species.

She would suggest to dream big:

eg. Wouldn’t it be nice if humans could live without violence?

She would suggest turning it over to the universe.

eg. Things to Do – Universe: stop animal testing, end the Commercial Seal Hunt, create a compassionate vegan society.

But in this case, Esther the repressed vegetarian says: sorry, can’t help you. Haven’t faced that issue myself yet.  Mmm… bur-gers….)

*****

Martin J from the Vegan & Vegetarian Society of Queensland has this to say :

“The problem is that “Abraham” appears to know nothing whatsoever of the suffering endured within factory farms, and when directly interviewed as to whether meat eating is morally wrong they reply to the tune that “the beasts of the world eat each other within a natural food chain situation of which we are the highest form (untrue) and therefore that eating meat is morally fine etc” and go so far as to actually claim that “animals who come to this planet have chosen this fate and they are OK with being eaten, for it is their destiny!” (Even as a toddler this did not sit well with me as my mother tried spooning meat into my mouth using an animated animal voice such as “baaaa Im a little lambey, I want you to eat me”, so I aint falling for that one 30yrs on either lol).
When the interviewer pressed on that “animals in todays society are NOT roaming freely under natural conditions as a ‘food chain’ scenario would suggest” Abraham Hicks looks perplexed, as though they didnt understand the question and game vaguely the same reply as previously stated that eating meat is ethically sound and natural, animals come into this world wanting us to do this to them.
All credibility that “Abraham” may have had was immediately lost, as it was fully realised that Esther was merely speaking from an ego consciousness, justifying her dietary habits and evidently had no idea of the situations of animals within factory farms and slaughterhouses of the modern world. All requests by myself for correspondence in relation to their statement have been ignored, they delete any comments on their YouTube videos that are unflattering in any regard and worst of all they are making millions ripping off unsuspecting seekers of truth peddalling their mediocrity.”

The most peaceful, happy, conscious people will always be thrown for a loop when faced with the subject of eating animals, because there is unavoidably violence involved and they do not want to be seen as violent people.

Where is the Law of Attraction in eating animals, Esther Hicks? Because if you order the killing of hundreds of animals throughout your lifetime, if you put animals through unnecessary suffering – the fear and violence you are manifesting will come back to you. It is law.

Vivisection is a Trick

They Make Money – We Get Sick

The Animal Defense and Anti-Vivisection Society of BC is launching a series of campaigns against UBC’s animal testing programs:

“Tucked away somewhere on UBC’s south campus is the euphemistically called “Animal Care Center” (ACC), the current locus of animal experimentation at the university. Unbeknownst to most students and Vancouver residents, UBC is one of the largest bio-medical campuses in the country. The ACC annually distributes some 100,000 animals, both large and small, to dozens of UBC affiliated-research projects. UBC
researchers in Vancouver and in other UBC-affiliated facilities around Canada have been routinely experimenting on animals, including pigs, rats, cats, and non-human primates. For example, UBC researchers have been involved in: cutting lesions into cats’ brains to determine the effects on the cats’ ability to step over objects; exposing guinea pigs to smoking to assess damage to lung tissue; and using pigs in a host of research programs.”

Please join the AD-AV in helping liberate these unwilling subjects. All types of people are needed in this quest.

Over 100 million animals are killed in labs a year.

This is not an either/or issue. We can all be happy, healthy, and live in harmony. Learn more about it through the AD-AV.

Meeting: Thursday, February 11, 6:30-8:30 PM @ Society for Promoting Environmental Conservation 2150 Maple Street (at corner of 6th & Maple. 2 blocks west of Burrard St.), Vancouver

Here are some of the AD-AV’s ideas:

  • Initiating whistler-blower campaigns to encourage those working within UBC research facilities to come forward with information
  • Gathering more information about UBC’s research on animals programs
  • Hosting a debate on the UBC campus between leading animal right advocates and UBC researchers
  • Developing a state-of-the-art website to help educate the public about UBC’s research programs, highlight the grim realities or experimentation on animals, and empowering others to take action
  • Coordinating media events to put the spotlight on UBC

The Secret of NIMH is a forgotten childhood fave of many 80s kids, but others may not be familiar with it because it was released at the same time as ET. Watching it again, I’d forgotten that the “Secret” of NIMH was the animal cruelty. The movie was produced at a time when these practices were a secret to most people; they are no longer a secret but still taking place – why?

There is powerful segment about animal testing at around the 5:50 mark:

*NIMH stands for the National Institute of Mental Health

Consider the irony – attempting to discover the secrets of well being by performing violent, heartless experiments on sentient beings. Could anything be further from mental wellness?

Top 3 Pro Fur Needless Violence Celebs

1)’Nye

Douche & Douchier

You don’t have to be intelligent to be famous these days; all you need is a mostly naked and mostly bald gf and cap locks:

WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE, REMEMBER THE FEARLESS, REMEMBER THE DREAMERS, REMEMBER THOSE WHO REPRESENT THE GHETTO…THE FAIRY TALE OF NOTHING TO SOMETHING. I’M BRIEFLY SADDENED BY NEGATIVE COMMENTS, BUT I HAVE TO REMEMBER THOSE PEOPLE ARE SCARED, INCAPABLE OR JUST PLAIN IDIOTS. WE ARE THE F*CKING ROCK STARS BABY. NO COCAINE, JUST LIFE MY NIGGAS!! NO COCAINE, JUST LIFE! IT’S FUNNY TO ME WHEN FASHION BLOGGERS DOWN OUR OUFITS AND THEN SUPER JOCK OUTLANDISH SHIT ON THE RUNWAY BUT THEN THEY DRESS MAD PRUDE AND DON’T LIVE FASHION. WE LIVE IT MAN. F*CK THAT, WE LIVE IT!!! WE LIVE IT SO HARD PEOPLE LIVE THROUGH US! WE REPRESENT YOUR INNER SPIRIT!! THE CHILD IN US ALL, THE BRUTAL HONESTY, THE NAIVETY, THE BRAVE WARRIOR, THE ADRENALINE THAT ALLOWS A MOTHER TO LIFT A CAR IF HER CHILD WAS TRAPPED UNDER IT! REMEMBER, THERE WAS A TIME WHEN EVERYBODY DISSED MICHAEL JACKSON EVERY CHANCE THEY COULD. IMAGINE THE PRESSURE OF BEING A TRUE ICON. VERY FEW HUMAN BEINGS ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE CONSTANT HATE!!!

For all purposes, we’ll consider ourselves fashion bloggers here.

Kanye loses his focus in the first line… something about ghettos and fairytales. Then he explains how normal people shouldn’t wear fur,  maybe, but rockstars can. But they can’t do coke, or something. Then he calls out all those who don’t wear fur for being poor dressers, or actually “mad prude” (I resent that ‘Nye – I LIVE fashion motherfucker, I F*CKin LIVE IT MAN!!!!! and don’t wear carcass). He further explains that to show your inner spirit you must steal the spirit of another. Whether this spirit is from the animal he’s wearing or from Michael Jackson, we’re not exactly sure. So in conclusion: if you want the adrenaline to lift a car off your kid, wear fur and get a girlfriend who dresses like a teletubby (we’re not saying she’s a gold digger…). Mmmkay?

BTW, it’s not just the fashion bloggers who dislike you, ‘Nye.

2)Kate Hudson

Penny Lane is Dead

I mean, Kate Hudson isn’t really about “faking it”. Just check out her acting. You want to like her, she has a cute kid with girl hair, and yet that’s where her motherly instincts stop. Kate’s fur fetish is inherited by her mother, Goldie; they romp the streets of Aspen in stolen skin. But that’s no excuse; it’s up to the younger generation to repair the mistakes of our elders, so Kate, pause from man-hopping for a moment  and nicorette yourself onto the fabulous faux out there. (Crazy – Almost Famous is on TV as I write this…) Kate, since we’re fashion bloggers 2day, we’re labeling your look: Almost Faceless, cause your boots (and probably coat) once had a face and you ripped it off of them.

3) Samantha Ronson

Lindsanity showered by flour in Paris by an activist. Thought she liked getting baked.

This is what the limelight looks like, bitches.

SaMan:

“It seems lately I am learning that there are too many people who put another species before their fellow man and that’s sad. I don’t wear fur, but I don’t think I have the right to ATTACK those who do. No one has that right.

PETA should focus their efforts on educating people on what they believe are injustices instead of seeking press via harassing those in the limelight...p.s.s. i think there are plenty of families that could have used that flour for a meal. nice job, lady.”

And there are plenty of animals who could have used that skin!

Peta’s Reply:

“There is nothing remotely ‘fashionable’ about the torture and death of animals killed for fur. Lindsay Lohan might be able to ignore images of bloody animals skinned alive for their pelts, but we hope a dash of flour will help her rise to the occasion and forsake fur once and for all.”

@ SaMan: if you were to be attacked, which would you prefer?

a) your skin ripped off your body as you twitch in unimaginable pain?

b) having flour dumped on you?

Choices choices…

The Law of Attraction & Animal Suffering

In Ask and It Is Given, there is a passage discussing how it is that babies are capable of suffering, since they are technically free of negative thought:

“They (the little ones) have been exposed to vibrations that disallow the Well-Being that would have been there otherwise.”

So we could infer that animals, being pure of mind and heart but emotionally vulnerable, absorb the ill intent of the humans who use and abuse them. This is a bit of a mind bender, because although animals are not necessarily capable of complex logic, they are powerful in their ability to maintain a sort of emotional buoyancy. But apparently this is not strong enough to prevent them from being held captive, mutilated, slaughtered… I have always considered the animal consciousness to be an extension of human consciousness, and therefore the collective animal spirit allows the human will to act through them. In extension of this, one could propose the theory that, as it is human consciousness that essentially guides animal consciousness, if humanity would evolve to non-violence, these changes could in time transfer to the animal kingdom. If human nature is only human habit, then animal nature is only animal habit.

These animals are being used to test your toothpaste. Please do not buy Crest or Colgate toothpaste. Help a bunny out.

Need more rabbit empathy?

And for any suffering animals reading, the book also states:

“A sensation of pain is a wonderful indicator that help is on the way.”

The sensation of pain calls for a cellular request of healing energy.

Can Those Who Cause Harm Be Enlightened?

The book says quite clearly:

“No one connected to Source Energy would ever cause harm to another.”

Now, in our current society “harm” has become convoluted. We shop at big box stores for things we need to survive that capitalize on sweat shop workers without understanding if  people in developing countries essentially suffer more or benefit more from having these jobs. And most of us are raised in families that consume animal products and are not able to put together the full story of what we are eating until we can build enough courage and curiosity to find out (at which point we are often hooked on the foods that have made us feel comfortable in the past). I know several individuals who define themselves as conscious, who go to India and meditate and volunteer and endlessly question and work on themselves without facing the violence of their dietary impact. But the truth is: no one connected to Source Energy would ever cause harm to another. (Being – animal or human, directly or indirectly.)

“They lash out in their defensiveness, or in their disconnectedness, but never in their state of connection.”

And you can substitute “lash out” for deceive, take advantage of, act blindly…

While the Law of Attraction does teach a certain selfishness – placing one’s own desires above the desires of anyone else, it strongly insinuates that one’s true desire in its purest form causes no harm to another. Therefore those who enslave people and animals are acting in discord with their ultimate source of energy and only sustaining these oppressive systems with great effort, and because their disconnected thoughts have spread among humanity like a contagious disease.

Howevs….

As we are the creators of our own destiny, we are not bound to these hurtful decisions made by others (eg. Harper’s strange attachment to the Commercial Seal Hunt, Procter & Gamble’s sick twisted animal mutilation in the name of “science”). We do not have to torture ourselves with these “realities” (as I have spent a lot of time doing in the past), because these realities are only paths chosen by others. We need not include them in our reality. This is NOT to say that we must plug our ears, it is to say that we must acknowledge these happenings only to the level that we realize they are strongly unwanted, and then we must create alternatives. We must focus on the ways that we would like these violent patterns to change.

I have spent a lot of time living in a world that I can only describe as hell, as it has seemed unbearable to live somewhere in which, while I am slipping into various states of having fun, animals of all species (including humans) are being harmed. But the more that we focus on these atrocities the more we are calling them into being, when we do have the choice for complete animal (including human) liberation.

“All those statistics that are gathered about your own experiences and about others – are only about how somebody has already flowed Energy. They are not about the hard-and-fast now reality.”

When you find a thought that provides some relief from whatever negative state you have entered, you have regained creative control of your own experience.

1) Ask

2) Answer the Asking (you can skip this step because it is not your responsibility but that of the Universe/Source)

3) Allow (prepare yourself to receive what you are asking for)

It’s the 3rd step that trips people up. Often we do get what we ask for, but are not ready or willing to receive it.

Well get ready!
